Candle Care
How To Care For Your CALM Candle And Stay Safe
- Never leave your candle unattended when burning. Extinguish before leaving the room or going to bed.
- Keep away from children and pets.
- Always place on an even, stable, heat and fire safe surface and don't move while burning.
- Keep away from draughts as this decreases overall burn time, may cause uneven burning, smoking and diminished scent throw. Its also dangerous if you have curtains near!
- Don't place near electrical appliances or anything flammable.
- When lighting your candle for the first time, burn until the wax melts across the entire surface (approx 2-4 hours), to the sides of jar, as this helps create an even burn for the life of your candle.
- Before burning, trim the wick to approx. 5mm. This helps to promote an even burn and steady flame.
- Keep the wick centred, standing upright and trimmed to prevent unnecessary soot from forming on the glass. Never allow the candle flame to come in contact with the side of the glass.
- Keep the wax free of any fluff, dog or cat hair (those pesky animal hairs have a mind of their own!) foreign matter or wick debris.
- Don't burn for longer than 4-5 hours as extensive burning times can lead to smoking, sooting, or overheating.
- Do not use if glass jar is damaged or broken.
- If you have one, use a candle snuffer to extinguish the flame. This helps prevent smoking and hot wax from splattering. If you do blow it out, do so very gently. There's only one flame, not like a 50th birthday cake! Once out, safely straighten the wick & ensure it's in the centre.
- Extinguish your candle if it smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high. This could happen if your candle isn't burning properly and the flame isn't controlled. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, and check for drafts before re-lighting. To know if your candle has a healthy burn, look for a centred & upright teardrop shaped flame that's not flickering.
- Always read and follow the safety instructions carefully.
- Please note that burn times are approximate only as they may vary depending on your environmental conditions.
- When there's approx. 1cm left to the bottom of your candle, its time to discard and replace with a new one!
